Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask before they buy.
If something is not answered here, ask us directly — the contact page goes to a person, not a queue.
The service
- What does Sitehouse do?
- We build professional business websites and provide optional services alongside them: online booking, website maintenance, review management, local SEO and digital menus. You choose what you need at checkout and pay for nothing else.
- Who is it for?
- Local businesses and tradespeople who need a proper website and do not want to become the person who runs it. Salons, plumbers, dentists, restaurants, valeting, electricians — anyone whose customers look them up before they call.
- What is the difference between the two websites?
- The Custom Website (€79.99 one-time) is built around features you pick, with three as the minimum, up to twenty. The Full Website (€249.99 one-time) is the complete build with all 34 sections and features included and nothing to choose. Neither includes the monthly services — those are chosen separately, and both websites take the same optional add-ons.
- Do I need an account?
- Yes, and it exists for your benefit rather than ours. The dashboard is where you see the build status, send your content, review the finished site, approve it, see exactly what has been paid and what is outstanding, request changes and manage your subscriptions. Without it you would be chasing all of that by email.
Paying
- How much do I pay to start?
- 25% of your one-time website total. That is the deposit, and it is the only thing charged on the day you order. On a €499.97 order that is €124.99 today.
- When do I pay the remaining 75%?
- After the website is finished and you have reviewed and approved it. Not before. We do not take it automatically while you are still looking at the site — approving is the action that makes it due.
- Do monthly services start immediately?
- No. Selected monthly services begin when your website goes live, which is after the final payment. You are never billed for a booking system or maintenance on a site that is still being built.
- Is payment secure?
- Payments are processed through our payment provider. Sitehouse does not store your full card details — card number, expiry and security code go straight to the provider, and we receive a reference, an amount and a status.
- Note for this build: payments are currently simulated for demonstration. No card is taken and no money moves until a real payment provider is connected.
- Are there any other costs?
- No. The one-time total covers the website and any one-time add-ons you selected. Hosting, SSL and domain management are part of the build. The only recurring charges are the monthly services you deliberately chose, at the prices shown at checkout.
- Can I see the website before paying the final 75%?
- Yes — that is the whole point of the order. You get the completed website to review, and the balance only becomes due once you are happy with it.
The build
- How long does the website take?
- Approximately 7 days after we receive everything needed to build it. That is a target we work to, not an unconditional guarantee — and the clock starts when the last piece of content arrives, not when you pay.
- What do you need from me?
- Logo, photos, business information, services and prices, opening hours, contact details, social links, and any specific text you want used. There is a form that walks through all of it.
- What if I am slow sending things?
- Nothing bad happens and nothing costs more — the delivery date simply moves out by however long it takes. We will tell you what is still outstanding rather than waiting quietly.
- What if I do not like it?
- Tell us what is wrong and we fix it. Getting the site to match what you asked for is part of the build, not a paid change. If you decide not to go ahead at all, the site does not go live and the 75% is never charged.
Changes & maintenance
- Can I request changes after launch?
- Yes, if you have Website Maintenance (€19.99 / month). It includes up to 15 reasonable changes a month, requested from your dashboard.
- What counts as a website change?
- Updating text, replacing photos, changing prices, adding or editing services, changing opening hours, correcting business information — the everyday updates a working business needs.
- What is not included?
- Major redesigns, new functionality, complex custom development, advanced integrations, large e-commerce builds and new pages beyond the agreed scope. These are quoted separately so you always know the cost before anything starts.
- Do unused changes roll over?
- No. The allowance resets each month and unused changes do not carry forward.
- What if I do not have maintenance?
- Your website keeps running exactly as built. Changes are quoted individually, or you can activate maintenance whenever you like from the dashboard.
Business Extras
- Are Business Extras required?
- No. They are completely optional. You can purchase only the website, or choose the additional services your business actually needs.
- Are these monthly payments?
- No. Business Extras are one-time services and are charged once. They do not become monthly subscriptions.
- Can I add extras after ordering my website?
- Yes, where available. Request additional services from your dashboard and we will add them to your account.
- Can I order just a logo without a website?
- Not at the moment. Business Extras are currently sold as add-ons alongside a website build rather than as standalone purchases. If you want something on its own, ask us on the contact page and we will tell you what is possible.
- What is included in the Brand Kit?
- Your logo, brand colours, fonts and basic brand guidelines — €79.99 one-time.
- How much is a Promo Video?
- Promo Videos start at €49.99. The final price depends on the length and complexity of the video, and we confirm the figure with you in writing before anything is charged.
- How much are AI Business Photos?
- Packages start at €30. The final price depends on the number and complexity of the images. These are AI-assisted images, not photographs of your actual products, unless you supply source material we can work from.
- What does the Business Email Setup include?
- The €29.99 covers the setup work: domain records, mailbox configuration and getting it working on your devices. If your email provider charges a monthly fee for the mailbox itself, that is paid to them and is not included in our fee.
- Will the Google Review QR Card get me good reviews?
- It makes leaving a review easier — customers scan the card and land straight on your review page. What they write is entirely up to them.
- Can I remove an extra before paying?
- Yes. Add and remove extras freely at checkout — the order total updates immediately, and nothing is charged until you pay the deposit.
Ownership & leaving
- Do I own my domain?
- If you brought your own domain, it stays yours — you are the registrant and nothing about that changes.
- If we register one for you, we tell you before registration whose name it goes in. Where it is in your name you own it and can take it with you. Where it is in ours as part of a managed service, you can ask us to transfer it to you, subject to registrar rules, any transfer or renewal costs, and your account being settled.
- Do I own the website?
- You own the content you gave us and the specific pages, copy and design produced for your business. What stays with us is the managed project: the hosting, the deployment setup, and the reusable components and tooling we use across customers.
- We are not going to pretend published pages are somehow locked. Anything served to a browser — the markup, styles and scripts of your live site — can be viewed and copied by anyone who visits it. That is how the web works. What we control is the official project and the infrastructure that runs it.
- Can I take my website somewhere else?
- Yes. If you have bought an explicit source-code transfer option, we hand over the agreed files once the applicable payment and requirements are complete. If you have not, ask and we will quote for an offboarding export. Either way you are not held hostage.
- Can I cancel a monthly service?
- Yes, month to month, with no minimum term. Turn it off in the dashboard under My Services or email us. It stops at the end of the period you have already paid for, and cancelling a service does not take your website down.
- The detail is in the Cancellation & Refund Policy.
- What happens if my monthly payment fails?
- We tell you, give you a reasonable grace period to sort it out, and only then suspend the affected service. We do not delete your website or your data because a card expired. Settling the outstanding amount reactivates it.
Account, data & support
- How do I contact support?
- From the Support section of your dashboard, which keeps the whole thread in one place, or by email at [SUPPORT EMAIL]. The contact page works before you have an account.
- Do you sell my information?
- No. We do not sell your information and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising. It goes to the providers we need to run the service — payment processing, hosting, email delivery, domain registration — and nowhere else. They are listed in the Privacy Policy.
- Will you email me marketing?
- Only if you ask. Marketing email is a separate unticked box at checkout and a switch in your account settings — buying a website does not opt you in. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and service messages about your build and payments are separate from it.
- What happens to my data if I leave?
- Your website content is kept for a short window after cancellation so it can be restored or exported if you ask, then removed. Invoices and payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires. You can ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to delete what we are not legally required to keep — see the Privacy Policy.
- Does the site use tracking cookies?
- No. There is no analytics, advertising or tracking on this site — only a cookie that remembers your consent choice and the storage that keeps you signed in. The Cookie Policy lists both in full.
Still not sure?
Ask before you buy. We would rather answer a question now than have you order the wrong thing.
